EN 10217-3 Grade EStE 285 normalized or normalized formed (+N) introduction

The fine grain steel EStE 285 is used for special requirements according to DIN 17178 : 1986-5 for welded steel tubes and according to DIN 17179 : 1986-5 for seamless steel tubes. These steel tubes are used above all in pressure vessel construction, apparatus construction, pipe construction, as well as in general machine and equipment construction. The corresponding rules in the procedure manuals have to be complied with, for example Technische Regeln Druckbehälter (TRB) [Technical Rules for Pressure Vessels], Technische Regeln Dampfkessel (TRD) [Technical Rules for Steam Boilers], specifications sheets of the AG-Druckbehälter [Team for Pressure Vessels] (AD-specifications sheets), Technische Regeln brennbare Flüssigkeiten (TRbB) [Technical Rules for Flammable Liquids], Technische Regeln Druckgase (TRG) [Technical Rules for Pressure Gases], Technische Regeln Gashochdruckleitungen (TRGL) [Technical Rules for high-pressure Pipes for Gases].
Special requirements regarding further processing (for example zinc coating, chromium coating or enamelling) have to be negotiated at the time of ordering. For welded tubes, one can assume a 100% use of the allowed calculated stress of the welding seam.
EStE 285 can be used in temperature range from -60 up to 400 degrees C.
