EN 10277-3 Grade 46S20 cold drawn introduction

The free cutting case hardening steel 46S20 is used for bulk parts of high strength, especially for low ductility demands in transversal direction compared to other C-steels (e.g. C45). Cutting speed is increased but higher cracking risk according to rising C-content has to be considered. Application in car industry, apparatus, equipment and machine engineering (e.g. screws, nuts, small-size parts). As a bright steel product it is used in the form of bars, bright, straight, in various conditions (see DIN EN 10277 : 1999-10).
