ISO 683-4 Grade 11SMn37 untreated introduction

Free-cutting steel 11SMn37 is not intended for heat-treatment and is preferred 11SMn30 for higher machinability and surface appearance demands due to its higher S-content. The Pb-alloyed steel 11SMnPb30 is replaced by 11SMn37 for lower machinability requirements. Increased crack sensitivity has to be considered.
Therefore limited application for bulk parts in car industry as well as in apparatus and equipment engineering.
