ASTM A252 Grade 3
ASTM A252 Grade 3 introduction

ASTM A252 is a standard specification for seamless and welded steel pipe piles for permanent load-carrying members or as a shell to form cast-in-place concrete piles. It covers three grades: Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3. ASTM A252 Grade 3 is the most commonly used option due to its higher tensile and yield strength.
ASTM A252 Grade 3 steel Welding:
ASTM A252 Grade 3 steel is weldable using various methods, including shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW). Preheating and post-weld heat treatment are recommended for thicker piles and certain applications to ensure weld quality and prevent cracking.
ASTM A252 Grade 3 steel Corrosion Resistance:
ASTM A252 Grade 3 steel has moderate corrosion resistance and can be used in environments with mild atmospheric corrosion. However, it is not recommended for severe corrosion environments, such as marine applications, without additional corrosion protection measures.
