ASTM A106 Grade B introduction

ASTM A106 Grade B

ASTM A106 is a set of standards for seamless carbon steel tubing developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for high-temperature service. The standard covers two types of steel pipe:

  • Class A: Suitable for low temperature (-29°C) to high temperature (454°C) applications.
  • Class B: Suitable for high temperature (427°C) to higher temperature (566°C) applications.

ASTM A106 Grade B seamless steel pipe has the following characteristics:

  • Good mechanical properties including tensile strength, yield strength and elongation.
  • Good high temperature resistance.
  • Good welding performance.
